Mothers Day Weekend

I am so sad that this post won't have any wonderful pictures to illustrate my words. Either my camera or my flashcard crapped out on me and deleted everything I had taken this past weekend. And I had taken some fun pictures!! Such a bummer!
Our weekend started out great with a concert on Friday night. Way back last October the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra ran a deal in honor of the Cardinals run in the playoffs. They were selling $22 tickets to a series of upcoming concerts. We bought tickets for 2 concerts, which were way off in May and June. Friday night was the first one, The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra plays Led Zeppelin. AMAZING. Simply amazing. It wasn't just the symphony orchestra, though. It was actually the Led Zeppelin Rock Symphony featuring a vocalist named Randy Jackson (no, dawg, not that one), and a full band including an electric violinist. Here is a YouTube video of them doing Kashmir with the New Jersey Symphony. Now, they said the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra was maybe the best they had ever played with, and then said they don't say that at every concert.

It was an amazing concert! And definitely the closest I will ever get to actually seeing Led Zeppelin. Before the concert Joe and I hit up the bar behind our old house for a drink. It was nice to be in the old neighborhood, but a gentle reminder of how wonderfully peaceful our new neighborhood is. While there I had a drink that I have been wanting to try for quite some time. I had a beautiful picture of it (which has been lost, of course) but I can report that it was DELICIOUS! It was a Dark & Stormy. Here is a picture of someone else'sBrian Boitano's D&S from the internet.

So good! It has ginger beer and dark rum and lime. It is pretty much my favorite drink now (second to the LemonAle of course).
Saturday we did a lot of yardwork, and I will get some new pictures of our blooming yard soon. Sunday was Mothers Day and we started it off with Ruby sleeping in! Yay! Happy Mothers Day to me! We spent the morning doing more gardening (I love to water my plants) and then went to Joe's grandma's for a Mothers Day lunch. While Ruby napped in the afternoon, my mom and I hit up JCPenney to do a little shopping. If I had a reason to get a pretty dress, I now know where I would go. JCP is on it. After our quick shopping trip, we all headed to my sister's house to have an Chipotle dinner al fresco. It was a gorgeous evening made even more gorgeous with her new screened in deck. While she gardened, the kids played in the new cottage playhouse, my mom lounged on a hammock and Joe, Daniel and I played a form of badminton. Good weekend!
