99...

I keep joking with myself that I will make a killer reusable advent calendar this holiday season. My thinking is that if I make it this year, then next year when Kuhlette is celebrating her first Christmas, we can start the tradition early. Bonus points if it's a cute handmade calendar! My first idea was to reuse the little boxes the halloween candy we bought (Milk Duds and Nerds, mostly) came in to make the calendar. That didn't happen. I keep seeing all these great homemade ideas. My favorite so far is this book themed advent calendar.

But all this inspiration still hasn't stuck gold in my mind yet, so no advent calendar project on my horizon, yet. However, I did quell my calendar countdown obsession by creating this "COUNTDOWN TO KUHLETTE" calendar. It resides on our fridge next to her pictures from our 20 week anatomy scan.

I made a simple table in Word counting down the days from 100 to +14 (two weeks overdue). On some days I replaced the number with an activity suggestion. They include things for Joe and I to do together (go out to eat, go to the movies), things to do for Kuhlette (read her a book, play her some of our favorite music) and things to do for myself (have a milkshake, get a pedicure). I wanted to make sure all those areas of my life were being thought of in these last crazy 100 days. I also included song titles from some of my favorite songs. These songs are guaranteed to make me happy, dancy, and excited for life!
